Kauai, Hawaii
A lush escape on shockingly American soil.
The Garden Island
If you make the journey to Kauai, one of the most isolated populated places in the world, you will be rewarded by the most vibrant and lush greens from the moment you exit the all-outdoor airport.
I highly recommend renting a car for your time here. Though I must remind you to keep your eyes on the road. The island’s beauty can be very distracting.
Kauai is an island for adventurers. You don’t come here to sit on the beach at a resort the entire time. Well, you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Instead, hike along breathtaking cliffs, sea kayak with spinner dolphins, and take a surf lesson in Hanalei Bay.

The Nā Pali Coast stretches 17 miles along Kauai's northern edge. Accessible only by boat, helicopter, or a demanding trail, this remote stretch remains wild and largely untouched—towering green cliffs, hidden valleys, secluded beaches, and waterfalls plunging straight into the Pacific.
